Paradise Permaculture

Pond and berm store seasonal moisture for use in dry season.

location:
Livingston, Montana
SIZE:
5.7 Acres
FEATURES:
pond, berm

Located at the site of Paradise Permaculture Institute in the extremely windy Paradise Valley in Montana - this project used the material from the creation of a water feature to start a perimeter boundary for the property to help diffuse the strong winds and harvest the nutrients that they carry.

Within the first year the clients were able to store the seasonal moisture throughout the dry season and the waterfowl had returned to the landscape. Cover, edible, and soil-enriching crops cover the landscape with hundreds of trees and perennials beginning to take root.
